Description (Service) School-to-work transition program offered through Ontario secondary schools * students earn cooperative education credits in grades 11 and 12 beginning trade apprenticeship through work placements in skilled trades * head start on apprenticeship and opportunity to gain work experience as well as contacts for future employment;

Payment of a wage to an OYAP student during the hours of their Cooperative Education placement is at the discretion of their employer * Students who are registered apprentices must be paid a wage while working beyond school hours or after graduation as apprentice * apprenticeship includes over 130 skilled trades in Ontario covering the automotive, industrial, construction and service sectors;

for apprenticeship after high school student continues to work with employer or enrolls in college apprenticeship program or finds an employer who is willing to sponsor/mentor in a full time ‘on-the-job’ apprenticeship
