Description (Service) Town of Richmond Hill committees and task forces for community input

Civic Precinct Task Force assists and makes recommendations to Council for the Civic Precinct/Civic District area;
Economic Development Task Force assists and makes recommendations to Council for the implementation of the town's Economic Development Strategy;
People Plan Task Forceassists and makes recommendations to Council for the development and preparation of new Richmond Hill Plans, including the Cultural Plan, Parks Plan, Recreation Plan and Environmental Strategy and secondary plans for Richmond Hill;
Accessibility Advisory Committee provides Council and staff with advice about Richmond Hill's Accessibility Plan, the Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act * gives Council advice about meeting regulation standards and goals;
Committee of Adjustment is authorized by the Ontario Planning Act to handle minor variances, legal non-conforming uses and consent applications * the Committee's consent is also required when the terms of an agreement, such as a lease, easement or mortgage commits the land to a use for a period in excess of 21 years;
Council Compensation Review Committee reports recommendations about the total compensation level for Council for the 2014 to 2018 term of office;
Fire Consolidation Study Council Advisory Committee provides advice and comment to Council and staff on the review of the potential for consolidation of Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services with Central York Fire Services;
Heritage Centre Advisory Committee advises and makes recommendations to Council about the development of Heritage Centre, programs and services to be offered at Heritage Centre, marketing and fundraising for the Heritage Centre and its activities, advising staff about its collection and its safety, security and preservation;
Heritage Richmond Hill (HRH) advises Council on designation of individual properties and the designation of heritage conservation districts * acts as a resource for citizens in matters pertaining to conservation, restoration and renovation of heritage properties * raises awareness of the Town's heritage in the community;
Property Standards Committee is responsible for the administration and enforcement the Town's Property Standards By-law;
Richmond Hill Public Library Board;
Road Watch Committee appointed citizens and business representatives work with York Regional Police and staff from the Environmental and Infrastructure Services Department to help make Richmond Hill a safer place to work and live in respect of public highways and other similar roadways * recruits sponsors to cover its ongoing costs and develop, maintain and update the Road Watch report form;
Youth Action Committee provides our Council with input about recreational issues that concern our local youth * committee members are ages 12 to 18 ;
Yonge Street Bus Rapidway Transit Advisory Committee talks to Council about issues and concerns regarding BRT services in Richmond Hill
