Description (Service) Community programs and supports for individuals with disabilities * main residence unit with 24-hour support and supervision for adults with a physical disability* special focus on cerebral palsy * offers independent living program * day support * respite care and recreation *

Markham facilities have: residence and services for 44 clients including respite bed, 24 hour nursing care, pool therapy, recreation, lifeskills, full service dining and laundry Information on and referral to literacy programs * literacy assessments * public awareness and education * resource centre * augmentative communication clinic

Day Services

Activity Resource Centre (A.R.C.) provides enrichment activities and recreation appropriate to the cognitive abilities of the clients attending * Activities include art therapy, crafts and pottery, music, sports, recreation and leisure outings, summer respite camp, pool therapy and sensory room

Adult Literacy Program provides students with the skills required to become independent, informed contributing members of the community * includes basic literacy and communication, job skills, computer skills, independent living preparation, transportation, citizenship and world events

Adults who have varying levels of physical and/or developmental disabilities within the catchment area of York Region * clients include adults with the following: Cerebral Palsy; Epilepsy; Developmental Disabilities; Neurological Disorders; Head Injured; Spinal Bifida  
Agencies with programs as outlined, or having an interest in literacy issues (for adults 19 years and older who would like information on literacy or basic skills upgrading)
Application Application for admission into our programs includes completion of full needs assessment, detailed medical information and interview by panel Admission/Discharge Committee * referrals from Developmental Services Ontario and Project Information Centre (Centre for Independent Living Toronto)
