Description (Service) Probation officers provide supervision to offenders who, by court order, have been allowed to remain at large in the community subject to conditions prescribed in a probation order 
 
Parole officers supervise offenders who have been granted a conditional release from a correctional institution which permits an offender to serve the remainder of his/her sentence in the community under the supervision of a probation and parole officer
