Eligibility Ages: 16 year(s) and up An individual/family may apply for subsidized housing if: *at least 16 years old *All members of household are legal residents of Canada or refugee claimants *Do not owe money for rent or damages to a subsidized housing provider **If any member of the household does owe money for rent or damages, they must have an approved repayment agreement in place with the housing provider ** *Able to live independently, with or without support services No household member is under a deportation, departure or exclusion order to leave Canada No household member has been convicted of an offence related to rent geared-to-income assistance No household member has been found by a court of law or the Landlord and Tenant Board to have misrepresented their income for the purpose of rent geared-to-income assistance

Annual household income from all sources must be less than $80,000 Total value of all assets owned by household members over 16 must be less than $75,000, contact for information on applicable assets Special priority for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and or human trafficking
Application read Checklist for Subsidized Housing on website and fill out Housing Application form * include citizenship status for all household members and copies of identification and copy of Notice of Assessment and T1 General Income Tax form for most recent tax year for all household members over age 16 - see website
For wheelchair accessible units have doctor complete Request for Modified Accessible Unit form, form available on website
Form available on website to add family member to application * while on waitlist call to change building choices on application or to notify of changes within 30 days of change including address, phone number, email address, members of household, income, immigration status
for Special Priority - Victims and Survivors of Domestic Abuse and\or Human Trafficking provide Verification of Abuse form available online, Request for Special Priority form available online, see website for other information to be included in application

Application form available online or pick up from York Region’s Housing Access Unit or call Access York to request to have application form mailed * completed application (with copies of identification) can be mailed, emailed, faxed or dropped off to Housing Access Unit

Notice of Decision will be provided including instructions for appealing including deadline to appeal through Internal Review if applicant doesn't agree with decision * Request for Review form for appeals available online * applicant can refuse up to 2 offers, at 3rd offer refused no longer eligible and removed from wait list
