Description (Service) Assist individuals applying for social housing and manages a centralized waiting list for approximately 5,000 subsidized rental housing units in York Region operated by non-profit and co-operative housing organizations
Hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Eligibility Ages: 16 year(s) and up 
 
An individual/family may apply for subsidized housing if: 
at least 16 years old 
All members of household are legal residents of Canada or refugee claimants 
Do not owe money for rent or damages to a subsidized housing provider **If any member of the household does owe money for rent or damages, they must have an approved repayment agreement in place with the housing provider ** 
Able to live independently, with or without support services 
No household member is under a deportation, departure or exclusion order to leave Canada 
No household member has been convicted of an offence related to rent geared-to-income assistance 
No household member has been found by a court of law or the Landlord and Tenant Board to have misrepresented their income for the purpose of rent geared-to-income assistance
Application read Checklist for Subsidized Housing on website and fill out two forms: Housing Application form and Building Selection form
Application forms can be printed and mailed to the Housing Access Centre; or pick up application form from York Region’s Housing Access Unit or request to have an application form mailed by calling Access York
